Bio

Brian Liu earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Tianjin University, China, in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He worked at H3C, 3Com and HP for many years, holding over 10 invention patents. In 2012, Brian began working as a technical advisor and later as chief engineer for technology companies in Vancouver, BC. Leveraging his extensive professional experience in academia and industry, he went on to co-found a company, successfully securing multiple rounds of funding and gaining strong market and user recognition. Driven by a deep passion for emerging technologies—particularly artificial intelligence, image processing, and low-altitude UAVs—Brian is now pursuing advanced studies and research at the University of Ottawa to further enhance and update his knowledge base.

Research Interests

Supervised by Dr. Miodrag Bolic, Brian Liu is a member of the UAV group. His research focuses on the integration of radar signal processing, deep learning, and computer vision for UAV classification and tracking applications, with an emphasis on implementing new research results on drones.
